Job Description

Our client is a well-established CySEC licensed investment firm with offices in Limassol.  They’re currently looking for a Safeguarding Manager to add to their team. The Safeguarding will ensure that client funds are protected in accordance with regulatory requirements, particularly MiFID II and the FCA’s client asset (CASS) rules, while also contributing to broader compliance and anti-fraud measures. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the firm’s operational and financial processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to client fund safeguarding rules (e.g., CASS, MiFID II, CySEC or other relevant regulations).
  • Oversee the reconciliation of client accounts, ensuring proper segregation of client funds from company funds.
  • Liaise with banks and payment providers to ensure secure, compliant handling of client money.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and annual internal safeguarding audits and reporting.
  • Work with the Compliance and Finance teams to maintain accurate safeguarding documentation and risk registers.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections and respond to safeguarding-related inquiries from authorities.
  • Identify and report suspicious activity or potential breaches of safeguarding rules.
  • Contribute to the development and review of safeguarding and client money policies and procedures.
  • Deliver internal training on safeguarding responsibilities and financial crime prevention.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in compliance, finance, or safeguarding roles within the Forex, financial services, or fintech sector.
  • In-depth understanding of client money rules (e.g., FCA CASS, CySEC regulations, ESMA guidelines).
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, AML, and KYC principles.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy in reconciliations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage confidential information discreetly.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., ICA, CISI, ACCA, CIMA, or legal/regulatory certifications) are a plus.

Preferred:

  • Experience with MetaTrader platforms (MT4/MT5) or other trading systems.
  • Knowledge of European and/or global regulatory frameworks (FCA, CySEC, ASIC, etc.).
  • Experience in working with auditors or regulators on safeguarding-related topics.
